The current manifestation offers a minimalistic charm, sending nostalgia tingling down your spine for the likely golden days suggested by patrons past. Still, stepping in—or out, with a food delivery—is like trying your luck with a culinary slot machine: more metal clang than jackpot chime.

True, the omelettes are reserved in form but not in ambition—arriving in tiny packages frail enough to elicit empathy even from our famously stoic former monarch. Yet, in person, the staff is rather emblematic of what one might call 'laid-back benevolence,' committing themselves in true serviceable style despite the obvious hiccups in telecommunication strategies.
