About this place
Sublime Cocktails and Stellar Live Jazz
Recently, I had the delight of immersing myself in the enchanting hideaway known as The Bloomsbury Club Bar. Despite its somewhat hidden location beneath a grand hotel, it instantly transports you to a world where an enigmatic old-world ambiance syncs with the lively pulse of jazz. The decor is ideally suited for intimate whispers and laughter—a mix of wood paneling, cozy alcoves, and well-chosen accent lighting make it feel like stepping into an avant-garde speakeasy. Upon arrival, Mia, whose warm greeting and ability to fit us in on a bustling night was a feat in itself, set a pleasant tone for the evening. The staff, among whom Alex and Dina particularly stood out, exhibited genuine hospitality that transcended ordinary service norms; they engaged in conversations, curated our choices like seasoned storytellers with tales from ancient Egypt woven seamlessly into each cocktail's creation. The drinks themselves were nothing short of captivating; each themed menu is an adventure, including rich narratives drawn from Tarot cards or whispers of pickled fiends from Egyptian lore. Alex, our bartender, not only mixed impeccable cocktails but also whisked up a vibrant Banter among his creations–a dazzling flourish in artistry and myth. Though there may be recurring notes of concern with service consistency—with some patrons experiencing unexpectedly uneven hospitality—the prevailing spirit pulsates with warmth and wonder. Long hailed for the storied extravagance of its ambient jazz nights, The Bloomsbury Club Bar stands resilient in its reputation: both for its insiders' wit and for ensuring strangers become admirers through its convivial, elaborately-hued evenings. A splendid setting whether rekindling existing flames or igniting new sparks; this bar becomes more than a mere visit, casting instead a spell not soon to be forgotten. — Nigel Gourmet
