About this place
Friendly Staff Shine in Stunning Beer Garden
Tucked away in the charming neighborhood of Barnes, the Coach and Horses pub greets you with a rustic charm and an ambition that shines bright. Upon entering, I was immediately taken by its warm ambience characterized by exposed wooden beams and a lively buzz emanating from vibrant locals. Despite the odd misfire here and there with service speed, which is admittedly understaffed during peak hours, the delightful acts of hospitality from staff members like Bella and Mimi were commendable, ensuring every patron feels at home. To cap off the convivial atmosphere, there's "The Stables," an outbuilding reserved for private functions where the Coach’s attentive service shines, making it a popular spot for Sunday roasts, birthday celebrations, and boisterous reunion parties. The garden—a veritable gem—offers a verdant retreat swathed in sunlight, though I must admit its landscape is a tad too artificial. Here, children clamber around lush grass as adults savor the restaurant’s gratifying menu. Standout dishes such as the spicy chicken burger and roast chicken amply please the palate, although some dishes like the unfortunate Sunday veg platter miss the mark. Nevertheless, once ensconced in this picturesque pub enclave, it's easy to overlook these trifles. Just be prepared for a raucous crowd whenever live music plays; conversations vie with strumming guitars for space. Yes, the Coach and Horses is not without its flaws, but its intentions and its stellar affable service manage an indelible impression, more than worthy of your time. — Clarissa Cuisinier
