About this place
Unforgettable Nights with Delightful Vibes
Ah, Mark’s Sky Bar—a leafy oasis in the urban sprawl, perched atop the city as if to escape the pandemonium below. It's the kind of place imbued with a rare sort of vibrancy that makes everyday stresses dissipate. Hidden gems are hard to come by, and yet there it stood in Eltham, winking knowingly, as though daring you not to have an adventure in its inviting embrace. Judging by the beaming bar staff and ever-busy, albeit exquisite, décor, you’d think they threw birthday parties for royals or hosted perfunctory cocktail mixing tutorials daily. I must say the atmosphere was infectious—a merry reminder as to why one bothers with public life—and while you might arrive disillusioned from the chaos outside, you’ll leave with little beads of night-out sweat and post-party glaze. Will the kitchen razzle-dazzle you with transformative culinary creations? Perhaps not, but the brunch alone is well worth shaking off your house slippers for. Portions were more than generous (I may still be digesting that sausage), echoing the spot’s widespread philosophy—serve big, smile bigger. In a sea of modern joints flexing their mixology credentials, the cocktails flow with such admirable efficiency that you half expect the staff to earn Olympic gold medals in hydration. Yet what fled for my affection was their tremendous ethos: fusing elegance with fun alongside some surprisingly clean facilities. If you go expecting Michelin stars gracing Mosaic-tiled floors, then yes, let me disabuse you; but should you seek a cavalcade of excellent spirits—both bottled and lived—you'll here discover how nights and Saturday brunches were fashioned in gastronomic mythology. — Penelope Savory
