During a recent visit to The Canbury Arms, I had the pleasure of experiencing this charming gastro pub nestled in Kingston. Inviting courtyards and comfortable, tastefully designed interiors – they've certainly put effort into merging warmth with class, painting an ambiance that bridges the comfort of a village pub with hints of modern elegance. Our server, Tatum, greeted us with enthusiasm, efficiently guiding us through the delights on the menu while ensuring our drinks were never low. Sundays here are renowned for hearty roasts, and indeed, we weren’t disappointed. From perfectly crispy Yorkshire puddings to roasts cooked to tender perfection, each dish whispered nostalgic comforts of home paired with the thoughtful touch of culinary expertise.

Our group couldn’t resist the allure of the outdoor seating, partially covered to shield diners from whimsical British weather but otherwise open to the garden’s embrace. Despite the pub bustling with eager patrons, service was attentive rather than intrusive, setting a pace that allowed conversation to flow as freely as the excellent wine selection. While the food was overwhelmingly commendable, offering delightful surprises like steamed fish with caper butter sauce, occasional lapses such as limited menu availability underscored that it wasn't entirely perfect.
