About this place
Delight in Authentic Flavors and Warm Service
In a corner of London where culinary dreams often go to kneel in supplication, hoping for presumed authenticity, I stumbled upon a delightful esquisse of Indian gustatory magic. This restaurant doesn’t shout its presence; it beckons with subtle wafts of cardamom and cinnamon, drawing scent hounds like yours truly towards its sanctuary. Inside, the decor boldly but endearingly prides itself on its bistro vibrancy rather than Taj Mahal opulence. The small menu promises precision, much like a sniper ready to take down epicurean surliness with one lethal spree of tastes layered with rich nuance. The heroes of this feast include a variety of favorites boldly strutting their stuff — tantalizing chicken curry and perfectly spiced lamb Rogan Josh, amidst rumbling applause from delighted patrons. But the most vivid entertainment comes in the form of Granth (or sometimes Flo), defying human limits of care with breathtaking table-side choreography as he dances around diners with impeccable charm and knowledge. There were some puzzling instances—abrupt tune shifts more fit for seaside shenanigans and ye olde British pints in place of cold Cobras—but given how this spot excels at conjuring sublime moments from momentary imperfections, these quirks merely added to an endearing authentic experience, hinting broadly at excellent but thoroughly chaotic kitchen intentions. Definitely a place I shall be walking back to lest my reputation of gourmand good fortune be questioned. — Penelope Savory
