Stepping inside, I was whisked away, enveloped by the inviting aroma that transported me straight to a cherished, time-honored eatery in Busan. The atmosphere is delightfully cozy, ideal for those of us who dread dining in places that mistake fanciness for quality. Here, authenticity takes center stage, from the honest, robustly flavored dishes to the warmth of the decor—complete with mercifully minimalistic flair—and the accommodating staff who seem vaguely delighted to see you, rather than put upon.

I ordered the celebrated fried chicken, crisped to sheer indulgence without the grease-soaked regret, and accompanying it, a tofu and seafood stew that held its own as both hearty and soul-soothing. Each dish arrived almost indecently hot, a relief for any soup or stew enthusiast prone to biding time against tepid missteps elsewhere. Dining here feels curated, not least because portions are perfectly scaled—not McDonald's supersize bloats, mind you—but generous enough to leave your mortal vessel spirited and satisfied. A noiseless thanks to them for accepting cards, keeping the familiar balance of diabetes-inducing cash at the till out of our sight.
