Venturing into the heart of the Westfield Shopping Centre, I recently found myself at the Gourmet Burger Kitchen, an establishment promising the grandeur implied by its name. Much like navigating a sea of options, both culinary and commercial, this locale stands out, albeit with a reputation teetering between devoted praise and pointed dissatisfaction. Upon entering, you're met with a stream of conscientious staff; I was swiftly seated by Asta, whose sure-footed ordering guidance came not just as a relief, but a glimpse of potential service to come. Yet, it seems the restaurant wears change like a second skin, constantly shifting its menu, sometimes letting favorites like sweet potato fries slip through its fingers, leaving long-time patrons sighing into their classic patties.

The burgers are where GBK strives for a semblance of consistent splendor. My "Smashed Classic 2 Patties," for instance, was as robust and flavorful as its promise, backed by a drink menu that bravely attempts diversity. However, within its sleek walls and amid rapid culinary competition, prices soar parallel with expectations—yet for some diners, both hang just beyond satisfaction. Loyalists mourn swift transformations in taste and presentation, to the extent some even evoke comparisons to fast food gasoline stations of lesser nobility.
