Exceptional Pasta at Heart of Soho

When stepping foot into this vibrant yet cozy haven of pasta indulgence, one can't help but feel transported—straddling that joyful intersection between London's hustle and Italian heartiness. Located in the heart of Carnaby, this unassuming gem wins you over with its simple yet enchanting allure. The standout tai-talian triumph has got to be their lobster linguine—a bountiful ocean on a plate that truly bests a traditional Sunday Roast. Pastitore however falters with their more modest portions, especially at this price point. But hey, perfection is pretty hard to conjure in the bustling epicenter of busy West End London, known essentially for its high rents rather than its culinary paybacks.

The menu isn't lengthy but where it lacks in breadth, it compensates in quality. Forever hanging in my memory is the impeccable cacio e pepe; a gustatory joy blending style with comfort beautifully, though the ravioli was less forgiving in quantity. Yet what makes this spot exceptional isn’t just its fresh homemade pasta, but also the infusion of welcome from their spirited staff. On one fortuitous occasion, the wonderful Le-Ric spotted the misstep of flat prosecco glasses before I did and, with poise and purpose, swiftly rectified it with bubbles anew. Such gestures are commonplace under this Roof of Lapides, rendering mere meals into memorable experiences. For all Central London's caprices, this restaurant twines genuine enthusiasm with great flavors — a cheery canvas of food painted lovingly across a service that's nothing short of exemplary. — Milo Tastemaker
