About this place
Authentic Flavors, Chic Ambiance, Exceptional Service
Arriving just before the twilight hour, Pot and Rice skillfully crafts a modern milieu of East meets West, embodying the Heart of Soho’s dining mosaic. Upon entry, the waft of sesame and soy curls its way through emerald walls adorned with delicate, dim-lit lanterns. The restaurant pivots around the traditional culinary heartbeat of Hong Kong: the claypot rice, enhanced by youthful, quirky twists that don’t stray too far from authenticity. I began my dinner adventure with tobiko & prawn cheung fun – a coastal tapestry where every strand and bead sparked with flavor. The chicken and lap cheong rice pot arrived sunken in its cast iron cocoon, each grain crunching and singing beneath the housed flavors, compelling a sense of visceral satisfaction with every bite. Uplifting the drizzle-laden London streets, Ghibli movie soundtracks whispered across the room, mingling effortlessly with the mellow tinkering of plates and conversational hum. Their selection of boba teas, replete with innovation like bottomless matcha lattes, aligned perfectly, yet inexplicably leaned towards an overt sweetness; a minor hiccup amidst the novel and comfortably generous personality of the menu. Whilst service showed moments of affable attentiveness, a fleeting stride towards inconsistency brushed past but was gently redeemed by warm nods to patrons at dusk. Pot and Rice didn't just fill the stomach; it wove a tale of tangible warmth surrounding friends’ communal chime – akin to household gatherings back in vibrant Kowloon alleys – beckoning diners back for seasonal forays. — Clarissa Cuisinier
