Comfy Beds and Delicious Breakfast Delight

Ah, the Premier Inn at Kensington (Earl’s Court), that quintessential beacon of no-nonsense London accommodation. Arriving not more than a brisk five-minute walk from Earl's Court Tube, it's set snugly in a surprisingly serene neighbourhood illuminated by the gentle glow of surrounding cafes, pubs, and, naturally, a Co-op. Surprisingly spacious for its central location, the room comes with all your classic essentials: a rather comfortable bed, blackout curtains for those rare lie-ins, and air-con that'll keep even the fussiest sleeper satisfied. The decor's an earnest attempt at contemporary charm, though it admittedly verges on bland. Nonetheless, basics like hand soap and shower gel come as standard, steering clear from unnecessary frippery.

What gives this place its edge is undeniably breakfast—an epic spread ranging from cereals to hot dishes, accompanied by virtually unlimited teas and coffees—perfect for fuelling a whirlwind day of sightseeing. Even my gluten-intolerant whims were catered to without a hiccup. The hotel cleverly plays its most efficient hand with unbeatable proximity; if the rumble of the train underground irritates your more delicate companions, there's more marvel than managing earplugs can muster. A tip of my hat to the staff, whose genuine warmth and punctual assistance only bolster the Premier Inn’s standing as an excellent mid-range base. And while it doesn’t steal the show with quirkery or amusements, for those days you need nothing more than a comfortable rest and hearty fare right before striking out into the capital’s wonder, look no further. — Milo Tastemaker
