On my recent foray into the eclectic neighborhood of Crouch End, I stumbled upon Tootoomoo, a buzzing Pan-Asian eatery that promises enough flair and flavor to temporarily whisk you away to a warmer clime. The moment you enter, you're greeted by an expanse of vibrant décor, mingling the chic with the cozy, simultaneously soothing and invigorating your senses. Let's just say, it feels a bit like stepping into the Far East’s living room—the brocade cushions and lush ferns would suggest someone hired Versailles’ interior decorator on their day off.

The menu is an adventure in itself, straddling a medley of Asian classics with indisputably generous vegan offerings. My dim sum bottomless brunch boasted generous portions—the kind where the waitress keeps your prosecco topped up with a casual cheer I'll surely once confuse with undying affection. Standouts included a delightfully tangy seaweed salad that crunched with health, whilst the deep-fried squid danced effectively between spicy and savory. Admittedly, not every dish was impeccable. The Korean beef dumplings seemed to have misplaced their spice passport somewhere across the East China Sea, but the promptly arriving pad Thai gallantly rescued our languishing palates. All said, Tootoomoo is a delightful stopping point—a firm suggestion to saunter in with a group so the cacophony of dishes can echo gloriously around your table—expansively delicious, if slightly inconsistent, but wrapped in an atmosphere as warm as the welcome itself. — Milo Tastemaker
