World-Class Dining with Attentive Staff

There's a curious theatre to visiting a Gordon Ramsay establishment, where the food dances between brilliant and barely reheated, and yet, somehow, upon each visit, you silently hope for fireworks. The interiors are an ode to quirkiness — the type of eclectic charm that suggests someone on staff has access to a trunk full of mismatched decor treasures and abandoned set pieces from a high-budget murder mystery. The servers, some brimming with their own rustic charisma like Matteo, and others woefully under-rehearsed, drift through the dining room like a lazy summer breeze, occasionally settling at your table to either enlighten or perhaps cast a baffling spell of detachment.

On my evening, it’s as if the restaurant gathered all the best intentions but forgot the chronological importance of serving meals on time. Still, amidst the delayed deliveries and the occasional 'we’ve run out' from behind the pass, one cannot deny the allure of entrancing culinary delights like the tender Beef Wellington. Forget the overly-salted fries or the surprise appearance of sparkling water in your flat bottle; it’s hard not to be lured back by the decadent sticky toffee pudding which seems to whisper seductively from the dessert menu. If only Napoleon had foraged into this Wellington! Throughout, the underlying hum of a good-natured Gabriel-like server or the spectacularly mixed G&Ts from Cristian hold your spirits however breezy or brazen the missteps. Thus, in spite of its disappointing beats, this restaurant is like that endearingly eccentric great aunt whose charm lies not just in her polished moments but the delicious madness waving in between. — Penelope Savory
