London's Best Roast in Cozy Ambience

Nestled in the heart of Wandsworth, the East Hill charmed me with its quintessential British pub vibes, seamlessly blending tradition with a modern touch. As I stepped inside, the warm glow of ambient lighting welcomed me into an atmosphere that felt both vibrant and cozy. It’s no wonder this establishment is hailed as a hidden gem. The moment I surveyed the menu, I was presented with an array of delectable British classics—from a temptingly homemade scotch egg that takes one back to seaside weekends in Whitby to the star of the show, their renowned Sunday roast. The pork belly, a standout dish bursting with flavor, was generously encased in crispy crackling. Accompanied by mountains of soft veg, my plate was heralded by an eyecatching Yorkshire pudding that reached lofty culinary heights.

My visit coincided with a rugby match, infusing electrifying energy throughout the pub as patrons cheered vigorously around hearty pints of expertly poured ales. Yet despite the throngs of excited fans, the staff maintained impeccable service, buoyantly addressing each request with timely precision and warm smiles. Hats off to Liv and her team who turned what could have been an ordinary service into an extraordinary hospitality experience. Witnessing newer dishes alongside timeless pub staples showed commendable forward culinary thinking without losing sense of their roots. East Hill, with its dog-friendly patter and community-centric ambiance, undoubtedly tugged at the heart strings, making it a venue I’m eager to return to again and recommend to any soul seeking effervescent food, drink, and warmth of human connection. — Jasper Griddle
