Intimate Elegance, Exceptional Afternoon Tea
On my recent visit to the Flemings Mayfair Hotel, I indulged in an afternoon tea experience that echoed the charm and elegance of a bygone era. The warm and intimate ambiance, accentuated by the beautifully decorated drawing room, made me feel as though Jane Austen herself might wander through at any moment. The tea selection, curated with the expertise of well-traveled connoisseurs, was an exploration of flavors from the East India Tea Company, each cup served with thoughtful guidance by the wonderful Martine. Her attentive service elevated the experience, marrying classic British hospitality with a personal touch that made the occasion particularly enchanting.Treats were not merely served but rather celebrated—a gorgeous parade of finger sandwiches, petite scones with their tart jams and luxurious clotted cream, and an array of desserts that embraced indulgence while still leaving room for more. Even the opportunity to sample a spectrum of tea blends felt like a delightful tea-tasting expedition. Light bubbles from the champagne added a celebratory fizz to the occasion, complementing the sweet and savory titillations in a harmonious finale. It's no wonder that this gem tucked within one of London's oldest family-owned hotels beckons its guests to linger and revel longer than they might have originally planned. Flemings is a place where time pauses, allowing you to savor tradition amidst the fervent heartbeat of modern Mayfair. — Audrey Al Dente
