Perhaps it was the golden crust on the focaccia that we couldn't stop devouring or the attentive staff who swept elegantly throughout the room making sure wine glasses sang only when laughter dominated conversations. The Taglioni with black truffle was a decadently earthy affair, reminding one why some cravings are simply worth indulging.

While the bustling environment does add a touch of effervescent London buzz to your meal, the spirited service at Cecconi's reminds you that you’re never far from the classic Italian hospitality. On particularly crowded evenings, service could become slower than the pasta pot’s boil, but the staff compensates by effortlessly guiding you through the menu options like culinary sorcerers, even making recommendations for dietary whims. While I’ve tasted bolder Cacio e Pepe elsewhere, theirs is comforting, wrapping you like a familiar cashmere. True, there are moments when ordering can resemble calling for a cab in the rain, but the alluring plates and enveloping atmosphere make any downsides easily remedied by a Barbera d’Asti.
