In my recent excursion to Street Burger, nestled in the vibrant bustle of Charing Cross Road, I must confess, the experience was a bit like biting into an overstuffed panini— bursting with surprises and, at times, nearly overwhelming. On one hand, the commendable praises shouting "best burgers" from loyal patrons were certainly deserved. The "Next Level Burger," for instance, presented a patty that was grilled to sheer perfection; slightly crisp on the outside yet juicy enough to cause momentary lapses of reason on the first bite. Chirag's charm and attentiveness imbued our visit with a sense of warmth and hospitality despite the lively chatter echoing around.But alas, as any well-told story has its crests and troughs, so did this foray into the world devised by the esteemed Gordon Ramsay. The menu's microscopic font left me squinting dramatically under dimmed lights, almost a scene right out of an Inspector Clouseau sketch. At a glance, I couldn't help but take note of whispers regarding a compulsory service charge which feels paltrily justified in an ambience occasionally too boisterous for leisurely tête-à-têtes. And yet, swimmers amidst the bobbing cadence of "Street" soulful tunes, when Cornelia bashfully tried recalibrating our expectations with impeccable timing and understanding...well, it made any gaps in Atmosphere’s gaudy shroud evaporate quicker than one could say, "Where's Gordon?" To sum it up? Come for the masterful gadgets starring (hint: they're circular and typically seared) and stay for Chirag's bonhomous air; just don't forget your flashlight to scan through the carte du jour! — Milo Tastemaker
