Stepping into Le Gothique feels rather like stumbling upon a secret Parisian bistro in the heart of London's bustling landscape. Housed in an eccentric, historic pseudo-Gothic building, the restaurant enchants from the very first glance, with meticulously preserved architecture that almost renders the experience a visit to a distant romantic era. Candle-lit tables shrouded in white linen stand under an eclectic mezzanine within, whilst outside, a lovely courtyard garden invites guests to relish their meal al fresco. This whimsical atmosphere, combining the warmth of intimacy with a subtle air of sophistication, is mirrored deftly by a menu that pays homage to classic French cuisine with just the right modern twists—a culinary ballet that had me savoring each delightful morsel, from tender poulet saltimbocca to divinely sweet fondant.

The heart and soul of Le Gothique, however, undeniably pulse with its dedicated staff, under the attentive stewardship of Andrew and Gabi. Their grace under pressure was remarkable as they seamlessly navigated a bustling evening when I visited, maintaining genuine smiles that extended sincere hospitality. The meals danced gracefully from kitchen to table, each plate a testament to the chefs' prowess, with starters like assiette de burrata setting the stage for expertly prepared mains. Dining here harks back to the magical evenings of Paris with every tasting sip of the well-curated wine list. While small hiccups are not unknown in the intricate waltz of service—like occasional communication snags—the warmth of this venerable institution's welcome redeems any possible lapse.
