Exquisite Ceviche and Impeccable Service Delight
Having ventured into the heart of Fitzrovia, I found myself at Lima, where the whimsical world of Peruvian cuisine meets London's eclectic charm. As someone whose profession mandates an ongoing quest for culinary perfection, every twist and turn here offered something unexpected. The standout? Without a doubt, the ceviche - akin to a gentle love letter written in the language of lime and coriander, with just enough zest to make your eyebrows dance. And while the iberico pork softens to almost poetic tenderlessness, don’t be led astray by the charming miso aubergine; it brings a whole new meaning to 'melt-in-the-mouth sophistication'.The atmosphere, a sophisticated soirée of quiet elegance on some days, morphs under the influence of weekday busy hours into a bubbling cauldron of vibrant echoes – ideal if you're looking for a night enlivened by more than just flavors. Service teetered on the cusp of overly attentive, eager to ensure no detail of my experience was left unattended. While the tasting menu's orchestration could sometimes do with less haste in delivering its symphony, each dish was a commendable testament to progressive taste artistry. Although there were whisperings of high aspirations quietly dancing with overuse of sauces, these little indulgences are easily forgiven when calling it ‘value for money’ doesn’t feel like an unjust dalliance. In a city forever in pursuit of the exceptional, Lima claims its piece of that illustrious pie—and rightfully so—with room reserved for seconds. — Penelope Savory
