Riverside Dining: Flavorful Indian Delights Await!
Stepping into Mala Indian Kitchen & Bar feels akin to wandering into a cozy embrace after watching the aglow steps of city life along the Thames—that backdrop alone is worth a solitary visit. This riverside gem in Canary Wharf charms with impeccable service akin to showing up in top hat and tails for every table, even mine! The waitstaff are the epitome of warmth, eager like puppies, yet knowledgeable enough to school you on the perfect wine pairing. Special shouts must be given to Arpit and Vinnie, who aren’t just there to remove empty plates, but to carefully orchestrate your evening with genuine smiles and cheeky banter. What’s immediately captivating is not only the menu’s breadth—adroitly traveling through India’s diverse culinary topography—but the consistent bite that whispers authentic flavors. The Dhall Makhani was lusciously silken, and the Chilli Paneer managed to dance a spicy jig without missing a step. The lamb Biryani warranted the hype—a fragrant, flavor-laden masterpiece that had gathered acclaim. Although some wooden sheep (burnt the odd kebab) appeared on occasion to remind you not all cricket innings are perfect, overall, the dishes bolstered by heartfelt execution will nudge you towards raving about “The best Indian” you’ve sampled without cracking a lie. Quite fitting, might I add, with a warm murmur of the city’s sights twinkling beyond, Mala stands promising, adorned in tastes begging you to return armed with eager appetite and more company next time. — Milo Tastemaker
