Delightful Dining: Genuine Indian Taste Experience
Walking into the understated foyer of Salaam Namaste, tucked away just off Holborn's bustling main drag, felt like a lucky accident that London theatrics are famous for. From the outset, the restaurant exudes a gentle vibrancy. The decor marries warmth and simplicity, presenting a welcoming space without overstating its charm. Familiar chatter buzzed lightly around us, jogging the memory of comforting homes that never seem to dwell in the past. We were greeted by Ashok, a briskly efficient and genuinely pleasant steward who considered our dietary whims with a gusto you rarely see outside your own grandmother’s kitchen. The menu reads like a novella of colors and spices—the Chicken Tikka Masala bore the slightest tingle at the end of each bite, while the Lamb Biryani captivated with its rich bouquet. Notably, the saag paneer delivered velvety notes of indulgent, creamy decadence without being overwhelmingly heavy. Portions leaned modest rather than palatial, leaving morale high and palates jubilant instead of mournful. Yes, an unexpectedly cold samosa can rock the boat of a perfect night, and sure, sometimes requests got lost in busy handoffs between back and front, but a sample taste of genuine cordiality fulfills the lesser gaps – a testament perhaps, to the restaurant’s adorable mischief. Overall, deem this a much-needed retreat from London's whirlwinds or a by-chance celebration you'll recount when confishing through fond memories. — Milo Tastemaker
