Stepping into this hotel restaurant, a fusion of elegant old-world charm and contemporary flair immediately captivates the eye. The dining room is an intricate dance of softly glowing lamps and plush seating, whispering promises of comfort and indulgence. As forks clink subtly against china and hushed conversations hum across elegantly set tables, anticipation fills the air. Our waiter, Naitir, shepherded us through the evening with impeccable grace, injecting what would have been ordinary moments with warmth and attentiveness—a refreshing highlight in an often uneven experience.

The menu, though limited in its pub-centric offerings, features sterling selections like the signature fish and chips, embodying British culinary tradition in each crispy mouthful. Unfortunately, not all dishes share in this triumph: witness the curiously ensemble-challenged shepherd’s pie, served in monastic austerity with no vegetables or gravy. Prices occasionally edge towards the ambitious, flirting with expectations of refinement, yet are partially salvaged by heartfelt service moments. Despite flaws akin to sandals on a seaside stroll—a flat mixer here, chilly fries there—there remains enough finesse and earnest hospitality to encourage future consideration, particularly as we see pillars of quality—courtesy of staff members like Kiran—gaining strength post-pandemic. — Jasper Griddle
