Tucked away in the bustling heart of Mayfair, The Glade at Sketch offers an ethereal respite that transports diners straight into a Wes Anderson movie. On entering, the bullet-shaped loos, boasting an unconventional space-age charm, may garner as much attention as the culinary creations themselves—don’t forget to pop by during your visit for nothing less than pure steampunk delight. But the primary stage here is set beneath a canopy of woodland dioramas, where plush seating and vibrant florals lull you into a blissful reverie, encouraging you to linger just a bit longer over artfully composed cocktail—a touch overpriced, perhaps, but undoubtedly a sensory experience on both palate and sight.

The service was gracious and attentive, not veering far from their script of pleasantries. Embodying warmth, my server Tobias managed to navigate our whimsy requests with aplomb, making return visits seem like catching up with an old friend. While I delighted in the tender chicken served in an inviting sauce on my plate, it's the trifles of style, such as petite portions and odd seating arrangements, that nudge towards the glam than genuine culinary substance. Conversations flowed freely interspersed with sips of Balfour Rose, its zesty nuances perfectly bridging our plates.
