Fantastic Venue for Memorable Celebrations
Nestled just by the iconic St Paul's, The Happenstance is a feast for the eyes before you even take your seat. Bedecked with flowers and offering delightful outside seating, it catches your attention at first glance. Inside, the atmosphere is a pleasant mix of lively camaraderie perfect for after-work drinks or a cozy celebratory soiree. While the enticing location and a varied menu promise much, it seems that execution on certain visits can leave patrons wanting. During my visit, I experienced exceptional service spearheaded by Emma, whose warm demeanor and efficient prowess kept our spirits high, a clear standout amidst the more variable service interactions witnessed by some. The cuisine matches the decor's sophisticated charm—most notably the delectable one-minute steak—and provides a wealth of vegetarian options like the vibrant mezze platter and rainbow salad which are certain to win over herbivores. Cocktails here could compete with any high-end bar, each concoction thoughtfully crafted and bursting with flavor. Nevertheless, the inexplicably poor coffee became an unfortunate counterpoint, a reminder that all places have room for polish and refinement. Undoubtedly, The Happenstance offers delights both visually and through taste sensations, though an inconsistent service experience and patchy food quality hint at untapped potential for true excellence. Despite these quirks, repeat visits are tempting, especially when ably attended by caring staff who remind you of the rewards awaiting the patient customer. — Nigel Gourmet
