Kazu, tucked away in the heart of Fitzrovia, is what I would describe as a fragrant jasmine hiding amidst a bouquet of London's Japanese eateries—a serene experience amid the cacophony. This establishment offers an understated elegance, where the whisper of good taste travels through the intimate dining room like a well-kept secret. The staff are uncommonly gracious, greeting you with a warmth that feels both genuine and rare in London's fast-paced culinary scene. The sushi is unquestionably some of the finest you will find in the capital—the kind that makes you audibly sigh with each delightful bite. The tempura here is the stuff of legend—airy rather than greasy—and harkens back to tempura I've savored on my travels across Japan.

This delightful little gem, alas, does have its eccentricities. Picture if you will, diners caught in the crossfire of overzealous service; waitstaff checking—perhaps too frequently—on whether your soy sauce requires a top-up, which could inadvertently rush some patrons out of their reverie. Yes, the prices can be on the steeper side, but when your plate arrives—artfully presented, each piece an edible testament to the chef's dedication—you understand why this discreet corner of Goodge Street demands a certain financial consideration.
