Authentic Italian Delights with Delightful Service

In my latest foray into the world of London’s Italian dining, I sauntered into a little gem tucked away amid Northcote's bustling culinary scene: Made in Italy. Nestled far enough from the overblown pizzaiolos that spot London's map like past spots of sauce on a debut white shirt, this delight of an eatery stands out with its tireless dedication to authentic Neapolitan pizza. What strikes you first is the buzz — like sitting mid-street in Naples surrounded by flurried mopeds — and the fast-moving but unobtrusive staff, seemingly orchestrated with almost Neapolitano nonchalance by the effervescent manager, Abdel. Straciatella and spicy salami are your magnum opus here; its harmony of tender cheese and piquant heat equivalent to landing seats for Verdi at La Scala – thrilling, for both novice and connoisseur alike.

But what marks Made in Italy as incumbent on one's list, despite its radiant ceiling-to-table prices, is that it's not just about what’s on the plate but also the places you'll go. A Sunday evening experience here promises joyos Symphonic orchestration of elaborate antipasti followed by soulful oven exhalations of perfect dough. The inclusion of old favorites and innovative specials allows for adventurous consolidations with familiar joys. I found myself, akin to a confused Aladdin at his caravanserai, beckoned back by their burrata-laden wonders while being tickled pink by a free limoncello sent hurtling toward you like a fling of sunlight. Join the parade that stops barely short of your aunty’s Aperol, and dance across your palate with as many sgroppinos and spritzes as they have days to teach you "mamma mia”. Highly commendable if not for the food alone then certainly for the pizazz that puts Battersea's groove decisively on the culinary map. — Milo Tastemaker
