When stepping into the storied confines of the Canonbury Tavern, I immediately noticed the sprawling, sunlit garden—a veritable oasis in bustling Islington. The summer months breathe life and laughter into this space, transforming it into an idyllic retreat. Granted, the service can occasionally be slow—seemingly overcome by the perpetual rush of patrons keen to soak up its renowned ambiance. Nevertheless, a sense of familiarity pervades as staff members, especially those like Jordi and Erik, make every effort to ensure guests are well looked after, elevating the lively atmosphere with a touch of warmth.

My visit coincided with one of their famed supper clubs, helmed by Chef Munir, and it did not disappoint. Each course of this meticulously executed menu danced on the palate, perfectly demonstrating why many regard the Canonbury as more than just a neighborhood pub. The Spencer Room, often sought for private events, offers an elegant juxtaposition with its tastefully arranged interior against the pub's otherwise relaxed charm.
