Situated conveniently on Caledonian Road, opposite Pentonville Prison, Doyle’s emanates an old-world charm that immediately puts you at ease. Built in 1856, this former Charrington’s pub invites you into its spacious, horseshoe-shaped bar which retains much of its historical allure while providing a modern twist. The tapestry of mirrors, nostalgic beer signage, and sports memorabilia hanging on the walls tells stories ripe from London’s heart, registering its place as a true locals hub. As I nestled into one of the comfy booths, savoring a satisfyingly crisp Pravha, the skeptical chill from outside faded into nothingness.

No visit here would be complete without indulging in casual camaraderie with the regulars—each as warm as the setting. Engaging in friendly banter over the rhythmic hum of jukebox melodies and live sporting announcements reminded me why local pubs like Doyle’s are quintessentially English.
