About this place
Authentic Flavours, Warmly Served: Culinary Gem
Tucked away on a charming, cobblestone street that could easily have been plucked straight out of Kyoto, lies a Japanese haven that seems to specialize in turning skeptics into regulars. One is first enveloped by its cozy ambiance, which draws you in with a whisper of savory promises enthusiastically delivered upon. As I sank indulgently into the Unagi Don, its perfectly lacquered eel was tender enough to make even Jiro Ono blush, hovering atop rice as fluffy as a cloud lit by daylight. But it was truly the Miso Ramen that stole the show, perhaps rivaling a symphony in how its broth brought together pork's unctuous note and miso's earthy undertone, each spoonful warming my spirit akin to a melodic embrace. The restaurant’s warm service coupled with the tantalizing lunch specials makes it a beacon for both quick student coffee breaks and deliberate culinary pilgrimages. Even during chaotic lunchtime rushes, staff attentively balance conversations, recommendations, and the soft pour of plum wine — a sweet tonic this side of heaven. Though at times portions tiptoe towards dainty, the combination of artful plates and attentive service creates an enchantment hard to resist. While sipping on bubble tea — respectable here, though a simple nod toward the drink specialists outside — I concluded my experience with a hopeful story. Like Hansel and Gretel leaving trails, the discrete and thoughtful gastronomic memories guarantee a second visit, best experienced in the company of fellow food lovers. — Clarissa Cuisinier
